The connection between Ageing, Cellular Senescence and Neurodegenerative Disease
Back to articles back to list

      Description

Kritsilis M. et al have reviewed in International Journal of Molecular Sciences, the implication of cellular senescence in neurons and glial cells and its role in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. For the first time, the authors confirm the presence of senescent cells in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis by applying SenTraGor™ reagent, the commercial name of GL13 compound, in tissue sections. In addition they propose senolysis as a therapy to prevent the progression of neurodegenerative disease.
